Secondary school put in lockdown over unauthorised pick up as parents told 'don't come'

A Warwickshire school was put in lockdown over concerns regarding an authorised pick up. On Friday afternoon (24 October) police in Bedworth told residents precautionary measures were in place at the town's Nicholas Chamberlaine School on Bulkington Road.

Police and the school have both issued statements to placate parent and resident concerns, saying everyone in the school is safe.

A spokesman for Nuneaton and Bedworth Police said: "There are currently some precautionary security measures in place at Bedworth's Nicolas Chamberlaine school. There is no risk to pupils or staff and officers will continue to work with the school.

"A person connected to an individual student has indicated they intend to come and pick them up without proper permission. The school has taken steps to ensure this doesn't happen and officers are supporting."

Addressing followers on its social media, the school's management has said there is no danger and that parents or loved ones should not make their way to the school.

"All children are safe," the statement read. "We have gone into lockdown as a precautionary measure. There is no immediate risk. Please do not come to the school."

Seriously? The words 'diviorce' & 'acrimonious' could well feature in this story at some point.

My thoughts too. Rather an overkill.
