Smoke billows as large blaze breaks out in Coventry
Smoke was seen billowing as a large fire took hold in Coventry. Firefighters were dispatched to Radford yesterday afternoon (July 14).
Crews responded to reports of a blaze at a property on Capmartin Road. When they arrived, they found that a brazier fire had spread to a car, a garage, and a garden shed.
Firefighters tackled the blaze using two hose reel jets. Nobody was believed to have been injured.
Crews cordoned off the badly damaged garage, which was later deemed structurally sound. It is believed they left the incident at 6.15pm.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We responded to Capmartin Road at around 4.50pm on Monday. Crews and a 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle from Coventry responded, arriving within five minutes of being mobilised.
“It was a brazier fire that spread to a car, a garden shed, and a garage. Firefighters used two hose reels to extinguish the fire, and there were no injuries.
“We advised the homeowner and left the scene at 6.15pm. Firefighters revisited the property later that evening to check for hotspots, but none were found.”
