With the closure of the coal fields and the deliberate destruction of the local motor industry I think this was almost inevitable. I do believe that in many ways the North has been cut free.

When I was a nipper, Nuneaton was quite a prosperous place and had many very good areas; it certainly looked after its elderly and disabled far better than Coventry.
