Lex, the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Business problems don't appear overnight, it's just that people choose not to look for them, or worse, choose to obscure them! - Spoken as someone who has seen more than his fair share of failed businesses! Believe me, there are plenty of UK companies not too far from the buffers!

Proposals for a new use for the site have been submitted; very quick turnaround: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-29906093

I was really surprised when I read the article. Closed collieries and their communities are usually left to rot for decades before someone decides to do something with them.

Strikes me as a little bit of nimbyism. The area desperately needs jobs, if the old Daw Mill site can provide them then it ought be used for the greater good.

It's the same everywhere. I recently came across a new acronym: BANANAS - Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere.

The future of Daw Mill Colliery has been discussed by the local Conservative candidate for the general election, but will no doubt be forgotten by whoever gets voted in: http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/Meeting-held-discuss-plans-colliery/story-26396692-detail/story.html
