The leader of Warwickshire County Council was allegedly assaulted and abused in Nuneaton town centre. Teenage Shire Hall leader councillor George Finch was reportedly attacked by a young man late on Friday night (October 10).

The Bedworth central representative was out with a female friend when the alleged incident took place. He was then allegedly labelled a 'facist' and 'racist'.

Police are understood to be investigating the incident. CoventryLive understands the Nuneaton educated council leader was not seriously injured but was left shocked as a result of the attack.
