Accepting that drunk drivers are a menace and wreck lives, I'm largely against what I see as the illegal stopping of motorists.
As far as I know, in order for the police to stop you, you ought have committed an offence under the moving traffic acts. Random checks (as far as I know,) are not exactly legal, (agreed with a very prominent barrister at one point) but I don't expect the courts to uphold anyone's rights here.
I'd also like to know how many breath tests were carried out to achieve this tally of 45, and equally, just how far over the limit they were.
