 Possible Traveller Sites in Warwickshire

We've had them locally, again!

They really are the pits.

I have no objection to others leading a 'different' lifestyle, but there's absolutely no need to trash everywhere they stay.

A little consideration from travellers would go a long way.

The fence around the park in Nuneaton has been fixed, but I'm not sure how effective it'll be: http://www.nuneaton-news.co.uk/Council-finally-fix-fence-stop-gipsy-invasions/story-29097329-detail/story.html

I think that fence is a joke. Round here they've removed gates to get on land. Of course the gates were always 'missing' or 'down' when they arrived.

The bottom line here is that nobody wants these travellers and the travellers only have themselves to blame for it. If they treated the land and areas with a little respect they'd be more welcome.

'True' Gypsies are welcome almost anywhere, because they leave no trace of where they've been and cause no trouble. In fact, many Warwickshire farmers welcome them to help out at certain times of the year.

Unfortunately, it is. I was recently party to a conversation between a Warwickshire landowner and someone from outside the county who couldn't believe that travellers were such a problem in the area.

Well, that saved the effort of having to evict them: http://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/news/local-news/update-stand-off-between-police-and-travellers-comes-to-an-end-1-7499988

The gates were locked, any attempt to remove/destroy the lock would amount to criminal damage. In the rare event that Plod could catch them in the act, prosecutions could follow.

These travellers don't seem to care about court order or criminal damage, they go around in expensive cars etc. so I reckon most of them are quite well off and can afford the costs. ON the other hand I have seen them scouting around housing schemes in their cars looking to see easy targets to break in, that's what it seems to me at times.

Life is easy if you don't have to pay your way. If I'd never paid tax and insurance I'd have been able to retire at 35!

Many people wonder why the caravans and cars are not confiscated. Allegedly, the way they get round it is that they don't actually own them, someone else (usually out of the country) does. It makes it difficult for the authorities, rather like enforcing fines on foreign drivers, so they don't bother.
