Looks more like something middle-class mums would take their little darlings to school in than something a farmer would drive round a field: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/land-rover-defender-hard-top-18522545

I think it looks better than the usual version.

Land Rover is no longer targeting the agricultural or military markets, which in my opinion, is a massive mistake. They have looked at something called 'the farmer's friend' but it came to nothing.

I remember when they targeted the old Defender at the yuppie market, it was a complete disaster.

I really think Land Rover has lost its direction, not to mention its identity. - A brand destroyed by nothing more than greed and incompetence.

I really liked the look of the old Defenders (I can see myself driving a battered old Defender round); nowadays, the brand just seems to be driven by the type of t****r who also has an Audi on his drive and his brains in his underpants.

They really are crude, Lex, though they do what they were intended to do. I always used to find the noise incredibly wearing.

The only good looking Defender is the one with a few 'battle' scars. Pricewise, they're on the up and most will now require work which is where the problems come in. Yes, all parts are still available, but they come at a hefty price.

I must admit, I've always fancied a canvas backed series 2 myself.

Still looks like a Range Rover to me: https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/gallery/land-rover-defender-90-prototype-18678115

I can't but think they've lost their way. I'm also not convinced the new CEO is the right person. I see dismal times ahead for JLR if the press is reporting accurately.

Frankly, I think they deserve better.

It's a shame. Like Minis, they used to be an iconic brand; 'updating' the design has made them onto just another vehicle.

What they need is a Toyota HiLux for the big jobs down on the farm..... Hang on to your steak and cheese...
