Quote: Police officer appears in court accused of theft A Warwickshire Police officer has appeared in court after being charged with three counts of theft while on duty. PC Robert Davies is alleged to have stolen cash, jewellery and a drill from the property, after a drugs raid, Birmingham Magistrates' Court was told. PC Davies, 48, declined to enter a plea to three counts of theft, connected to his duties, at the hearing earlier. The officer, from Alcester, is accused of two counts of theft involving cash, jewellery and a power tool, after the raid at an address in Redditch, Worcestershire, in November 2023. The third charge alleges PC Davies stole cash, in February this year. The third charge alleges he stole £180 in cash "belonging to The Crown", in Alcester. Back in the 60s, I had a relative working for the police. He told me that it was accepted practice that the first officers on the scene after a robbery would add to the missing items. As he said, "The thief is hardly likely to make a fuss that he didn't steal the 'extras'!" |
