I've pondered on this question often and have finally satisfied myself with an answer. These exams have evolved and changed over the years, but so have I. What was new to me (and often very difficult) in my teens is now common place to me.

I suspect that this is why as we get older we think exams that we previously sat have gotten easier.

But what really worried me yesterday was hearing that you needed A levels for some apprenticeships and the fact that so many of those with good grades were going to University with little thought of how they might use any qualification gained.

I have to ask myself, is it worth all the aggro of study and of taking on massive debt for a "career"?
