| Post subject: | Our wol story game |
Ihave just been reading all of our 'Story Game which started in 2006--for the want of something interesting to say. It is an excellent read and remarkably funny (and in those days I did get answers to any comments I made) Started by Will, it continued for 10 years getting better all the time. Those were interesting times-the days of Shizara and Gladys- and others. These days it gets boring with just a few who hardly comment on the posts. How can we get people back again and interested. to liven things. and I cant believe that no-one has mentioned the football. I don't normally watch it except when it's world cups and all that stuff--big yawn here.My 7 year old grandson plays too and is a very good member of his school team so I have to learn the jargon. EVEN HE AGREED WITH ME THAT ENGLAND WERE VERY BAD LOSERS.DID ANYONE NOTICE HOW THEY SLUNK ON TO THE BUS THE NEXT MORNING,CHINS ON BOOTS. I shall not be around next week I am girl sitting in Stratford- on Avon - my 14 year old granddaughter, which should be interesting as she has invited 6 friends for a party evening on Saturday .She is moving to Cornwall in September so I shall have 7 weepy teenagers to console. Must go-I have a nasty looking jackdaw shouting at me and I don't want him to make a mess on my washing because he hasn't had his mashed potato today. He loves chips too...and chocolate buttons. |

Keeping people involved in boards is getting harder by the day Cathidaw. Unfortunately, most prefer Faceache. I believe that boards have many advantages, but in this day of instant gratification Faceache usually wins through. Sadly, the internet is now littered with poorly attended boards. I generally tend to stay away from sport topics as I know very little about them, though the England team were a bl**dy disgrace by any standard. So, you feed a Jackdaw? Mash, chips and chocolate? You're spoiling him! Mind you, I spoil my Akita and so do the local pub users, where he seems to have become their adopted mascot. Would you believe he has his own named plate where he is served treats whilst I enjoy a couple of pints? |

This is a local information board and doesn't seem reach many people. Facebook or Faceache is more interactive because it accesses up to the minute news items and other interests folk seem like to follow. There is also a load of light hearted boring stuff, but I mainly like to keep up with what is going on around the world especially the with the current, turbulent political climate. I find the meandering story thread too long and is not a thing that would hold my interest. No offence meant. Rebbonk refers to poorly attended discussion boards. I think that the hopes of the founders of the internet were unduly utopian. They kind of thought that communication by itelf would bring agreement. I it is the old liberal fallacy which is that problems and wars are caused by lack of communication which is almost entirely crap. What we are seeing on the internet is in fact a hardening of attitudes based on irreconcilable beliefs and value systems. I am sure we have all seen this operating over the last few years. People also tend to argue in a circular fashion and it is very rarely you can persuade people for the reason that reason did not get them into the view that they have , so therefore , reason will not get them out. So we are dealing with an emotional factor. |

Welcome to WOL Finebyme! Thanks for your comments. My focus for WOL does tend to be very local, as our forum was set up with the people of Coventry & Warwickshire in mind. There are some threads relating to the world beyond C&W; I could look into developing these if that's something you would like? |
