Been made worse this week by the French strike.

I see that France is suddenly beginning to wake up and take its responsibilities seriously.

This is an EU wide problem and needs tackling not by individual countries, but by the EU as a whole. Sadly we aren't doing ourselves any favours at the moment with a British ship (HMS Bulwark I think) rescuing boat people and giving them free passage to Italy.

I know it's hard, but I honestly believe the EU ought simply return all these so called refugees and illegals to where they came from.

Genuine refugees don't flee and leave their wives and children behind! Why are we only seeing young males as refugees? Take away the right for them to ever hold family re-unions within the EU and I'll bet the problem disappears over night.

I have always found it a bit suspicious that most of the immigrants at Calais are male. There do seem to be a higher number of women and children floating across the Med. though.

According to the Times last Saturday these immigrants can claim benefits for children, and somewhere to live.

I'm almost certain some of the immigrants already here borrow children to claim benefits.One or two of the young women look far too young to have so many.This is in a certain part of Coventry.

It's rife Cathidaw and our authorities will do nothing about it for fear of offending them.

I watched a political programme at the weekend (big mistake, I know) and it was all about us not respecting immigrants and their cultures. Well sorry if it offends any one, but you come here, you fit in with us; don't expect us to change our ways to suit you!

No other country would kow- tow to our beliefs.'When in Rome' and all that doesn't apply over there, wherever it is.
My Dad was right about repercussions from Enoch Powell, and I didn't believe him (-teenage angst etc).He died 25 years ago I'd have loved him to know. He also predicted when the cold war was on, that we'd have more trouble in the Middle East than Russia.

To be fair, a lot of the problems in the Middle East are of our own making. The way the area was divided up after the war has caused many a squabble over there, as has the greed for the oil. One of the biggest problems is that we simply don't understand them. This has been proven time and time again. There are also myriad of petty grudges going back hundreds (if not thousands) of years which we are unaware of. All in all, we ought have stayed well clear...

I remember Enoch's speech and it's often misquoted. However, if you take it in the original spirit, the man has proven to be pretty far sighted and accurate.

I uses to have a 'live and let live' attitude in my younger days, but as time has gone on I've come round to thinking like you Rebbonk and Cathi - live by our rules, and if you don't like it, go somewhere else to discover how good you've got it here!

What we're currently seeing at Calais:-



Now what we're currently seeing is lots of lawless people who are prepared to stop at nothing to reach our shores. (We can debate why, but you don't really need to be brain of Britain to work it out.) Once here, do you really think they'll settle down to our peaceable way of life? We will reap as we sow!

I have watched some of the programmes about asylum seekers - immigrants -on the dolers, and all of the benefits seekers. Many cheerfully agree they only want money, and if they don't get enough, brazenly say, matter of factly, they'll steal.
And we watch again- and moan about it, and can't believe the authorities do nothing.They must watch these programmes and know these people.The programme makers never comment. I think they too hope someone will see the facts and do something about it.But they are scared of being judged racist.A word which is used as an umbrella nowadays to cover many wrongs.
Although I must say there are plenty of reasons in this country to lean towards it. If any indiginent Britons were doing these fraudulent things the police would be after them like a shot. We're easy meat.
If my Dad was alive -he'd be101 now and in big trouble.He'd be called racist because he'd say,"I'm not a racist but just cant stand the Welsh,( He'd had a skirmish with one when he was a young man)-and lost, so his pride was hurt forever.
