On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 the major hostilities of WW1 were formally ended...

Ninety two years ago. For many of us that was before our time, but for those that had parents, grandparents, friends, or comrades that served, the memories may still be there and hopefully handed on from generation to generation, Lest we Forget the sacrifices made by those that fought and the families they left who would o/'..Keep the Home Fires Burning.. o/'.

It is easy to stand in judgement of others, but one of the real enemies of our world is GREED, in all its angles and facets. It seems such a small thing, yet, if you think about it, the desire to have that which belongs to others will drive some to take the most shocking steps imaginable to achieve those desires.

There is no escaping the atrocities that took place, they are part of our history, which, in some way or another has touched the lives of everyone single one of us and continues to do so with new generations in today's world as mankind's armed forces go into battle.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

I hate the way it has become acceptable that war is inevitable and all these men have to die.
WW 1 was the ' War to end all Wars', and look what has happened since.
When our boys went 'over the top'' in that war it was unnecessary mass slaughter and condemned as such.
The war in Afghanistan is no different.
We have been successfully brainwashed to accept that these young men will play Russian roulette with their lives when they go there, and they too know it. The gift of life is a precious thing and in these so called enlightened times it should be valued, not used as ready fodder for the new wars which erupt regularly and into which this country jump into head first in the name of-what?
So many reasons-excuses. Try to make me believe it's not greed.
When I see yet another draped coffin at Wootten Wawen, and another of our beautiful English fields converted to a sea of graves, I feel hurt and angry and switch off.
I used to feel guilty about the way I think but not now,about the stupidity of it all, and that's what I could cry about and bash my head against the wall.
After W W 1 The cry was ' Lest we forget '
We soon forgot !
We have forgotten how wicked war is and my, how it is glorified.

Shizara is right,-- although I dont expect her to agree with my feelings otherwise-- it's all to do with greed.
