So, I was in the local hostelry and set the barman a mathematical puzzle. He got it wrong, (as many do) I explained it to him. He then goes up to the 'rough' end of the bar and poses the puzzle to a few regulars... mayhem ensues as they argue over the answer.
The puzzle:-
I buy a bat and ball, in total it costs me £1.10p
The bat cost £1 more than the ball.
How much did the ball cost?

Knowing me, I'll be one of the folks who get it wrong. I think the cost of the ball was nowt.
