Gas accounts for about a third (I/3) of energy consumption in the UK - and the proportion is rising.But I just don't understand a couple of features of this. If the gas reserves/supply are falling, and the price is governed by supply and demand, then can't we simply import, say from the US, the shortfall (liquified?). The supply would in effect be guaranteed, so we could also import more oil if that was needed to make up the mix of energy that we need.Putting to one side for a moment the situation in the Caucasus, what other factors are there affecting the supply that seem to getting us all in a tizz? |

Bottom line, Margaret, we are being ripped off unmercifully. Distribution costs haven't risen, as far as I know, solar and wind prices haven't increased, but energy company profits have escalated out of all proportion. - The recent failures were quite predictable due to very dodgy and opportunistic business models. Why has your standing charge been increased? - Try asking your supplier to justify it! |
