Lovely Pubs, the company that owns Baraset, has recently taken over The Moat House at Coughton (as in Coughton Court near Alcester). It's a very different atmosphere to Baraset, but every bit as good - definately worth going to.

Might be worth a try if you in the Rugby area: http://www.rugbyadvertiser.co.uk/news/local-news/cafe-vin-cinq-named-rugby-s-best-bar-1-6523262

Thought I'd revive this thread! One restaurant I've been really impressed with recently is Baraset Barn. It's a couple of miles out of Stratford, and you always get a really warm welcome. The food is superb, and is definately worth the pound or 2 extra you pay; however, the Baraset also does a fixed-price menu Monday-Friday which is every bit as good and is about £14.50 for 2 courses.

Jimmy Spice in Stratford gets my vote.
Nearer to home though, The Red Lion , Corley Moor, excellent.
No stars at all go to Weston Hall, Bulkington. Rude and offhand welcoming last Friday evening for six of us -( special occasion). overpriced and dated 70s menu.

Pleased to say we did not stay.
Told them why - they weren't bothered -and the place was nearly empty.
Wonder why?

1.) Phoenix Chinese Restaurant-best Szechuan chicken this side of the Atlantic.
2.) Beef Restaurant, Kenilworth-if you can find a better steak, I'll happily eat it.
3.) Been, Warwick-gorgeous Chinese food, and they're very environmental-they have a no-leaving-food policy.
4.) Saxon Mill, Warwick
5.) Loch Fyne, Knowle- Amazing seafood.

But mostly I'm a takeaway girl, so those are the only ones I can think of so far. (Apart from restaurants, the best place for ice cream in the Midlands is Henley-in-Arden's famous ice cream shop. They have about a billion flavours, including pink champagne sorbet (O_O) but my personal favourite is their Toffee Crunch and White Chocolate ice cream-to die for if you have a sweet tooth like me :) )

The Thai Dusset in Coventry has always been an overpriced excuse for Thai food since '99.

I quite like it - as does our office, as we go there quite often. Don't consider it particularly expensive. It's far better than the one in the Butts (Blue Orchid) which is really Indian people trying to pretend they are Thai.

I'd prefer a Malaysian restaurant myself.

My China in Priory Place is OK - they do some Malaysian dishes.

Went back to MYO again and it was absolutely awful. First time was OK.

Aqua Food and Moods in Coventry is very good - relaxed atmosphere and the lebanese dishes on the menu (It's Lebanese and Italian) are absolutely delicious.

Took a whole bunch of us to The Houndshill. Pub food admittedly but nice surroundings,

The Vintner is a bit special these days. Did you know Lambs and the oppo are all owned by the same people, doesn't show in the food though (that's a compliment by the way).

The worst place to eat...and the Goat and Bucket award goes to *** *******

I was in the Vintner again on Tuesday, I have to admit I was more than a little miffed that the menu hasn't changed at all in at least six months. The food is good there, it's just the same food every time.

Hey all,

Don't go to many restaurants but have been to The Bear at Berkswell just outside Coventry and that was really great for veggie and for confirmed meat eaters alike - worth venturing out to :->

I don't think I can manage 10 but in Stratford.

1. Chutneys Indian.
2. One Elm.
3. Ripple (Think it's still being rebuilt after fire though).
4. Lambs.
5. Vintner.

There the only one's I've been to recently, they're all good though. There's an Indian Resturant on Sheep Street which is supposed to be excellent, I forget the name though.

Cocnut Lagoon in Stratford is very nice.
