'We aren't heroes'
Quote:
'We aren't heroes' - brave pair who rescued family trapped in car in Nuneaton lake

Two humble men claimed they weren't heroes despite saving a family trapped in a car in a lake on the outskirts of Nuneaton. Neil Gill and Steve Elston leapt into action when they were flagged down by a concerned member of the public in Burton Hastings.

Neil and Steve, who were driving between jobs for Currys, were told a car had gone through the trees. Neil immediately went to investigate and saw that the car was upside down and partially submerged in a lake on March 5.

Mr Gill then bravely jumped into the cold lake and forced the car door open. Inside submerged car was one adult and two small children, both under the age of five, with their seatbelts still on.
