When I was treasurer for a local social club we did a fundraiser for the local air ambulance. Considering we were located in a very deprived area, we raised a lot of money. I was very disappointed that nobody from the air ambulance could be bothered to come along, say a few words and accept our donation.

Accepting that air ambulance is a very worthwhile service, I can't help question why it needs to rely on donations so heavily. Surely it ought to be centrally funded?
