Thanks.
the waiting time is about 9-12 months--well it was but there is such a backlog it has been discontinued for a time.
The engineers are sent and are usually local , well I know one who was sent from Lancashire. They do not and are not allowed to charge for accommodation so your lady should claim her money back.
I should think that Warm front with a government grant of 3,600 would be able to affodr that, when a local installer can do it cheaper. If they have to wait for their money, that's okThey only have to wait once and they are then on a roll as there is so much work for them.
(Amostl from the horse's mouth)

My reply may be of no use now...but hey ho, you're going to get it anyway!

If you are 60 or over and NOT on any pension credit or benefits, you can get a voucher for £300 against a boiler repair or new boiler BUT the boiler HAs to be faulty/not working/broken down. So for example, say your boiler is 20 years old and you want to have it replaced before the winter becuase you think it's on it's last legs you DONT get the voucher. They make you wait until it breaks down. ALSO, WARNING: YOU ONLY GET £250 NOT £300. They charge an admin to the engineers of £50, which will be passed on to you, rightfully because why should the heating company have to fork out £50 towards your repair? but £250s better than nothing.

OR if you ARE ON BENEFITS, you can have upto £3,600 for a new installation BUT IT HAS TO BE CARRIED OUT BY WARMFRONT not just a local enigneer (where as you can use a local enigneer for the £300 grant).
BUT, MASSIVE WARNING: THEY CON YOU. A lady up the road from me had the higher grant amount. Warmfront sent their own engineers from LEEDS to rugby to do the works, then forwarded her the engineers hotel bill for the time they spent in rugby!! They also overinflate the price of the installation in the first place! So where a full system might cost you £3000 for a local installer, £5000 from British gas, it'll be £6500/7000 from warmfront.

Warm front, once you give the installer/engineer the voucher, take about 3 months to actually pay the engineers company the voucher money. So Warmfront are a joke basically, but if you can get £250, it's worht it at least.

Hope that helps or helps anyone else thinking of going down that route.

Thanks Lex,
I have the website but I am asking for information from any one who has had experience of the actual work done , the quality, and how long they had to wait.

Government Warm front scheme
I'm doing a bit of research.
Has anyone applied for, or know of anyone who has applied-- any time this year--- for this Goverment grant for the over 60s -----forcentral heating a house.?
How long did it take from application to installation?
Were there any problems?
please reply here on WOL-or if preferred, private message.
Thanks
