Re: Did you Build a Snowman?
We mostly got away with it in the south of the county - mostly sleet. I'm usually ok with driving in snowy weather, just take it seadily.

Although, I hate walking in snowy weather when the snow's been compacted into ice.

Re: Did you Build a Snowman?
Too old to build snowmen, now. I was in the local pub on Thursday when it started snowing. After it began to settle I beat a hasty retreat home.

Friday, my mate emailed me to say he was stopping in, but in truth, there was very little of the snow/slush left, and my journey was uneventful. - Which was just as well, because my brother fractured his ankle slipping on Wednesday, and my daughter gave him a right telling off. - God knows what she would have done to me!

I think it was '91 when I went into work about 06.00 on a Saturday morning. I came out at 10.00, and there was a thick blanket of snow over the place. I couldn't even find my car. A friend gave me a lift home in a 4X4 kit car. - That was fun!

Did you Build a Snowman?
We had plenty of warning it was coming, the white stuff that floated down from the clouds like bits of tissue paper. Nice to see from the warm comfort of home but not great to be out in at night. I hate it when you can't distinguish the point where the curb becomes the road as it looks to have the division disguised by the snow. At night it can be positively treacherous. I had to walk it, in the snow, one night many years ago when we had a huge dumping of snow and there were no taxis running. It took the best part of an hour of slow, careful walking. I was not in a hurry to repeat that experience but last night I thought I might have to and it was daunting. Because I was one of the first out of the station and spotted a taxi sitting there I thought I would take my chances. Carefully walking through the slush I got to the driver, who, after finding out where I was going was OK about taking me there. Believe me, I am extremely thankful. There is that great feeling of relief when you get to your door, put the key in the lock and go indoors, closing the snow and the cold out. I didn't go outdoors today and definitely didn't build a snowman, did you?
