I must admit, I'm all for local fire stations. I know the financial argument doesn't stand up, but when an emergency occurs, dashing across town often isn't very effective.

Apart from the footie match days I can't remember seeing a police officer or PCSO on the beat around here. We do get plenty of squad cars dashing around though.

I was walking to my local earlier, and actually came across a couple of PCSOs on foot patrol; I was quite shocked!
