We've been invited to a party but had decided prior to the invite arriving that we'd prefer to sit in our local Italian restaurant with 4 friends and enjoy a meal instead. The restaurant is the sort of place you can lounge in all evening. They are not closing early either, so no rush etc. I don't like the falseness of gathering with people I wouldn't normally be mixing with. Fun when young but it isn't for me these days. Life is too short.

I probably won't be staying up to see the New Year in - just having a quiet night in. I find going out a let down, and there never seems to be anything worth watching on TV.

However your Christmas Day went for you I hope it was a great day and you enjoyed it. Another New Year is fast looming up and I wonder how many of us will be awake to see hear the midnight bells from Big Ben on television and see the fireworks or will we be catching up the next day on the BBC iPlayer.

Happy New Year!
