I once went to the wrong funeral, so embarrassing because I knew some of the people there.
I was stupid. when someone asked me at the wake how I knew the deceased, (naming him), I said "Oh I thought his name was....." instead of keeping my mouth shut.

by the way-- Are you a newbe?
If so welcome -- if not give us a try. We can be pretty good.

To continue.....
An aquaintance knitted me a really out of shape jumper, purple and grey. with bits of orange tassle for relief --even worse than my knitting-- A couple of months later I bagged it up with a charity bundle and took it to a shop miles away from where I live. A week or so afterwards she turned up with the jumper. Little did I know she worked in that shop 2 days a week and thought I'd packed it accidentally.
I thanked her profusely and welcomed the jumper like a long lost treasure----------My penance was to wear it if I visited , or she visited me.
Later -very much later I put it in the cat basket when she had her kittens, she loved it.

Embarassing moments
I had a lady in to clean my house when I was out working.I was one day, putting away most of the ornaments to save her some time.As I chatted I picked up one particularly ugly pot pig, saying," Look at this, how could anyone in their right mind buy this for a a present".She went quiet but said nothing..Next day I noticed it was missing from the box to go in the loft. I mentioned it to her and she said she'd taken it to her home to be loved as I didn't like it, and she'd bought it for me a year before.
That was one I couldn't talk myself out of !!.
