I quite like Baxters products.

They're an interesting company to look at, they have quite a history. - They also seem to be quite healthy financially. ;)

I see Fray Bentos was taken over by a Scottish firm called, Baxters in 2011.

Margaret,

They still do a whole range, including cheese and vegan (I think). I refuse to buy them at full price (£2) but when they're discounted I'll get a few in.

Very nice! I didn't think Fray Bentos still did pies. I don't like kidney though.

I changed my mind about Christmas day. I did a Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pie, Mash and mushy peas. - I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

Scrambled eggs on toast for today after yesterday's 'blow-out'!

Roll on tomorrow when I can get an afternoon pint in peace!

Everything in the chicken stew today!

Then some puds with ice cream or custard.

Margaret,

I intend to spend the day on my own, with my CDs and the cat for company. The answerphone will be on and the door will not be answered!

A couple in the next street has gotten it into their heads that it's about time I became attached again and keep inviting me to parties where there are unattached women. They have requested my presence tomorrow evening. - I won't be going!

I haven't had faggot since I was a wee sprog in Scotland. Always loved mushy peas and chips.
Will you be spending Christmas with family ??

I fancy faggots, mushy peas and chips, Margaret. - And there's nobody to stop me!

Merry Christmas. ;)

The soda loaf was incredible! I'll be using that recipe again.

It turned out very well. I had to thicken it slightly, but it was incredibly tasty. - Makes a change from adding chocolate.

I've got a soda loaf cooking at the moment, I've used grapefruit juice as the acid agent. - Fingers crossed!

Sounds interesting, Rebbonk.

Just to warm myself up tonight I'm doing a chilli. I've used a mix of crushed tomatoes and cold coffee for the liquid. I'll let you know how it works out.

What was the verdict Rebbonk.. were you impressed with it?

;)

I was very impressed, Margaret. If they do go ahead with producing the product I think it'll be a regular purchase for me.

Yesterday a well-known breakfast cereal maker sent me a new product to try. I was hooked from the first spoonful, and I rarely eat cereals.

I've recently had jars of chocolate spread with slight variations of ingredients. I'm not too fond of the stuff, but my daughter loves it and provides enough information for me to provide them with relevant feedback.

I'm off out for a couple of pints later, so something easy tonight... Jacket potatoes will do I think. ;)
